Dirty Rotten Scoundrels You know, I feel like we have no modern-day equivalent to Steve Martin. There are so few people who can just play an asshole that you can’t help but like the way he can. We do, however, have a good deal of British actors who can sleepwalk through a movie they’re not interested in. Michael Caine does fine enough for what he’s given, but he’s mostly flat and unemotional. But it looks my reservations were unfounded as Sadamoto makes some bold decisions that not only make the series stand out on its own, but makes me like it a bit better than the source material. Brown Sauce

  I was going to record a podcast about this, but when I first started writing it, my throat was suffering, was I, form a mysterious illness that I briefly thought may have been mono, but it didn't last nearly long enough to be that. I can't emphasize how pissed off I would've been to have mono, the Janice Soprano disease. Also, I realized I kind of don't want to do any sort of podcast again without someone to bounce riffs off of. As fate would have it, I've been going through different mechanical keyboards. For those unaware (most of you, I'm guessing), I somewhat recently (August-ish?) acquired a tiny computer with integrated graphics and have been living the Linux lifestyle ever since. The Chronicles of Riddick My big memory of this was going to see it in theaters and being confused the entire time. My brother and one of his friends had come with me and they had both seen Pitch Black before this one (I hadn’t) so I thought they might have a better grasp on what was going on. They didn’t. This movie is far from perfect, but I can’t help but applaud a movie that decides to go in such a radically different direction than it’s establishing work . It’s like how Aliens was an action movie when Alien was just a horror movie. No wait, it’s like if Aliens was epic science fantasy detailing the world that the characters lived in with only passing references to the original movie sprinkled in (with the titular aliens never showing up) while Ripley fights off an intergalactic evil empire. I have to give credit where it’s due; the world that David Twohy ha s created is compelling and original, even if it doesn’t always stick the landing. It’s honestly disappointing...
